After working as part of a team in a permanent job with a salary, starting your own business can be so daunting.
All the uncertainty and pressure – it’s all on you. And that’s not something that is often talked about.
Conversations about starting your own business usually focus on all the positives, like flexibility and following your dream and passion, which is absolutely true!
Starting your own business is the key to having complete control over your work/life balance and creating the future that you want for you and your family.
But there is a lot to think about. A lot to carry in your heart and your head. And that can bring up a lot of negative emotions and stories that you need to deal with to make your business a success.
One of the biggest issues to creating business success that I see among so many of our amazing community members is around pricing.
When you work for someone else, they set the price. You just work in the back office or sell the products on the shop floor. It’s not your responsibility and definitely doesn’t depend on the quality of your work. You’re just a cog in the bigger corporate wheel.
But when you have your own business… it’s all about you.
Pricing is a massive trigger for self-doubt. This is why as a success coach, a lot of my work with clients involves shifting the money beliefs that are holding entrepreneurs back from growing their business.
Money itself is triggering for so many of us. Quite often we let our inner bully tell us that we are not worthy of charging that amount of money for our services. But what do we do with bullies? We stand up to them by realising our self-worth.
Our Money Mindset Make-Over is a great course to help you to stand up to the money mind buddy – Money Mindset Make-Over
If you are offering coaching sessions to your ideal client that are going to help them to achieve their life goals, don’t you think that is worth paying for? Wouldn’t you pay for someone to do this for you?
(You can always take a look at the competition and see what they are charging for comparable services if it makes you feel better.)
I want you to feel confident in your decisions and your coaching abilities. And that includes setting your own prices.
And I want to help you to move forwards with this, so that pricing is no longer an issue stopping you from getting paying clients.
The first place to start is to know you are not alone.
We all have got money stories going on, that generally began when we were growing up. And the key here is understand that these are just that… stories. Money is energy. It’s neither good nor bad in itself – it’s what you do with it and how you feel about it that has a positive or negative effect.
Then know that with awareness comes power
Power within you to identify your own money mindset stories and then work on challenging these and changing them to stories that empower you, rather than stop you.
To help you again, let’s examine some common unhelpful money stories – let me know how many of them resonate with you.
No.1 There’s never enough.
You never feel like you have enough money to do what you want (or what you need), which means that you are always in survival mode. You’re constantly stressing about where the next payment is going to come from and always feel like there is more month than money in your life. The cycle of debt is strong. And you’re tired of it. But because there’s never enough you are not prepared to invest in your business, which means you won’t grow, and the cycle continues.
No. 2 I can never get ahead.
You’ve hit an income ceiling – typically, just enough for you to pay your bills and have a little bit left over. Enough for the basics, but not enough for treats and savings and fun. The stress here is that although you can run day to day, if your car blows up or you need a new boiler, you’ll be in trouble.
No. 3 I don’t know where the money goes!
Budgeting – what’s that?! You don’t have a handle on how much you earn, or where you spend it. You know that you are earning enough, but you don’t have a safety net – and that makes you nervous. You’re not in control, which is stressful and cause problems (paying your income tax at the end of the year?!)
No. 4 It’s greedy to want to be abundant.
This is so common. Often, we feel that if we want to earn more money in our business, that makes us greedy. And nobody wants to be seen as greedy because greed is selfish. And because of that perception, we sabotage our own success. But money is just a tool – it’s your intentions and what you do with it that count.
No. 5 People won’t like me if I’m rich and successful.
This is a similar story to above. You don’t want to be seen like the morally bankrupt bankers or corporate giants. Or the Flash Harry down the road that your parents hated because he had a new car every week. But just like not all left-handed people are the same, no two rich people are the same. People like you can succeed and be rich, and also be loved.
All these points are just stories – they’re not truths.
And because of that, they can be changed and overcome so that you can have the success that you deserve.
A negative money mindset can damage your business – Gain access to our Money Mindset Make-Over and don’t let the once upon a time of your past influence your future. Become the Abundance Queen of your business and receive the money you deserve!
