Exercise One

STEP ONE

Work out what your bottom line is.
This is what amount of money do you NEED on a monthly basis to cover. bills/rent/mortgage/living costs?
What is the minimum amount of money you need to survive?

STEP TWO
Taking the figure you come up with from STEP ONE, tune in with yourself and ask yourself honestly the following questions:

“On a scale of 1-10, if I was to never earn more than this figure per month for the rest of my life, how satisfied would I be (10 being most satisfied and 1 being unsatisfied”

STEP THREE
What is the monthly income figure that FEELS REALISTIC to you to be able to earn right now. What is the figure that feels like it is achievable?

STEP FOUR
Taking the figure you come up with from STEP THREE, tune in with yourself and ask yourself honestly the following questions:

“On a scale of 1-10, if I was to never earn more than this figure per month for the rest of my life, how satisfied would I be (10 being most satisfied and 1 being unsatisfied)”

STEP FIVE
Now, raise the figure in step three by £1000 and repeat the question.

“On a scale of 1-10, if I was to never earn more than this figure per month for the rest of my life, how satisfied would I be (10 being most satisfied and 1 being unsatisfied)”

STEP SIX
Keep raising the figure by £1000 until you reach a 9/10 satisfaction level. Write down the figure that you arrive at.

STEP SEVEN
With that figure in mind, tune in and ask yourself honestly how achievable does that figure feel right now?

Write down any fears or negative thoughts that come up for you when thinking about working towards this financial goal.

For example:
You may experience the fear of “to make this kind of money will mean huge amounts of sacrifice. Or, you may feel like achieving this income goal is so out of reach that there is no point in even trying to reach that goal.

STEP EIGHT
Now, find your financial sweet spot.

This is the figure which is on the borderline of excitement and fear. It’s the point at which your feelings go from “this is a figure that lights me up and excites me” to “this feels scary and out of my reach. You should find the figure where excitement shifts into fear. This is your financial sweet spot.

MY FINANCIAL SWEET SPOT IS:

……..

This exercise will provide you with the following:

  1. Your bottom line.
The purpose of establishing this is so that you know that as long as your income stays above this per month, you are fine. This is your safety net figure.
  2. Your answer from STEP TWO should have helped you get clarity on how satisfied you are with this figure and to prevent you from settling on an amount which is less. than what you would truly like to earn.
  3. Step three will give you your financial comfort zone – what goals feel comfortable for you right now.
  4. Step four will have helped you get clarity on how your “comfort zone” goal really makes you feel, whether it is a goal that really lights you up or whether you are settling for less than what you would really desire.
  5. Steps five and six will help you to get out of your financial comfort zone and start. thinking about the figure that really excites you.
  6. Step seven will help you to identify how your dream financial goal really makes you feel right now and to assess the level of discomfort around achieving this goal. Step seven will also help you shed light on some of the limiting beliefs or negative energy you may be experiencing right now in relation to money and obtaining wealth that can be worked on moving forwards.
  7. Step eight will help you find your current financial sweet spot: A goal that can be worked towards right now that feels both exciting and almost a little bit scary.
